Dear Parents, Guardians, and Employees:
In accordance with Pennsylvania Act 44 of 2025, Section 1303.2-A of the Public School Code, the District is required to notify parents, guardians, and employees within 24 hours when an incident involving the possession of a weapon occurs on school property, at a school-sponsored event, or while using school transportation.
On February 6, 2026, an incident occurred at the Punxsutawney Area High School involving a student in possession of a cutting object / knife.
The incident was addressed immediately, no one was physically hurt or in danger, and there was minimal, if any, disruption to the school day for our students. The incident will now be handled by law enforcement as they deem appropriate under Pennsylvania Law, and internally according to District policy.
