PAHS Celebrates Tradition with End-of-Year Field Day
Punxsutawney Area High School once again embraced its time-honored tradition of the end-of-year "Field Day," marking the start of transition from academic evaluation to celebratory activities. The day commenced with students gathering in their homerooms to complete the annual Measuring Results Assessment (MRA) through the school's Leader in Me program.
The MRA survey and reporting system serves as a vital tool for schools implementing the Leader in Me framework. By gathering data from students, families, and employees on leadership development, school culture, and academic outcomes, the MRA allows Punxsutawney Area High School to gauge the effectiveness of its program. The insights gained from the assessment enable the school to track its progress, pinpoint areas for growth, and strategically plan for the future.

Following the completion of their MRAs, students eagerly dispersed across the campus to partake in a diverse array of engaging activities. The Jack Hart Field buzzed with students playing football, while friendly competitions unfolded in Corn-Hole and 9-Square tournaments. Others opted for a leisurely stroll around the track, taking advantage of the pleasant Western Pennsylvania weather.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, local entertainer Mike Gigliotti of Magic Mike’s Entertainment and Party Rentals provided an exciting lineup of inflatable attractions. Students enthusiastically tackled an obstacle course, engaged in playful jousting on a log flume set, and tested their skills on a mechanical bull. Students even got to dunk some of their favorite staff members in the dunk tank, including head principal Dr. Sheena Smelko. To further enhance the day's enjoyment, students were treated to a variety of refreshing ice cream courtesy of Joe’s Drive In and shaved ice from Kona Ice.

This year's Field Day at Punxsutawney Area High School successfully blended important program evaluation with enjoyable activities, fostering a sense of community and providing a memorable conclusion to the academic year.
