hi so in this video I am going to go over with you how to use sirs Discoverer for your research projects this video you can see that I I gave you a very basic research statements I'm going to be referring to that a couple times as I show you how to use Stars okay so to use so you have to Texas High School page and then from there you're going to click on PHS library and then over here in the right-hand corner there are some active links you would click on the research resources link and ask him to take you do a list of all of the available online resources that you as a student here at the high school have access to thrillist and you can access service reset sure by this cooking here and there are multiple products on the Ethan access sir Cyril but the easiest most efficient is by clicking here now this is a order to use the site off-campus see the library staff for username and password so you would have to login to users because the company that I buy do we have they allow us to access servers at school but it home in order to authenticate your IP address you have to login so that information is right here for that so if you are remotes or if you're at home and research at home on to access Thursday username and password to log in those are the credentials that you would use two stars in this takes you to the sirs database okay so this is what the date it looks like right here there is a search box already box right here down below that there are different categories is first so these are topics on right now or pretty popular and then if you don't have it search topic yet you need to help me help me a specific the editors picks you can actually like a care to look at all of the different topics that are available okay so I'm going back to our research topic research topic is virtual learning is less effective than traditional in-person education so let's say that this is my research topic so I'm trying to get article particular topic so that I can support my stance on this topic okay so I can use the search feature up here and look at the different available or even right here I could use dissection as well so if I were trying to find information on you know if I were trying to find resources to support my stance that virtual learning is less effective than traditional education I would probably select this topic because it has the word School in it depending on what your your research topic is you could find it in several of these sections but the school one is a place where I would start for mine so I click on and then that is further sectioned off into smaller more Civic topics there's homeschooling up kind of like it but not really scroll down through trying to find right here is a virtual classrooms on that topic virtual classrooms has about stars all of the issues the pages are set up just like this artificial intelligence and that are what search the information in so the first thing you're going to see is the topic the title here and then the different sections of and then you're going to get a summary whatever you are researching this is good too it actually gives you like an essential question size of the topic traditional classrooms Hershey ritzy gives you the opposite online learning cannot replace the experience of real-time instruction in a traditional classroom so end of the spectrum opposite so depending on what side you are researching or maybe you're researching both the two sides of the topic there are links to articles that support virtual learning is a much less effective than traditional in-person education because the recent articles online classes are actually more beneficial because they provide students with different experiences they can't experience in traditional classrooms Viewpoint 2 click here so here is an article that supports my viewpoint and then you know it tells you what source it is Paper Source and the public this was written was the Wall Street Journal gives you the date so it gives you a it does gives you the the citation for that right off the bat and here article in its entirety so is this an article that you feel support your stand servers gives you additional documents that are related to the same topic constantly looking for a related article it has so here are three more articles that are similar to this article so I don't know how many do you have to have but this is a good way to you no pick and choose what source you want to use for your research and then it also gives you additional related subjects and their all time right so you know online learning in virtual classrooms this you know if you click on one of these it could get it's going to give you more results for your topic and then once you're in this section obviously it's not too it's just a list of all related all related articles and perhaps she went to have newspaper or magazine or maybe you're looking for a government Source or a scholarly Journal article you can do these different Source types here to lessen those results and then you can also get to just primary documents I'm specific publication date has been written since from like to present present day and then you would apply it and then it's going to take those results from the 244 down to the 130s KNM to get back answers you just click this and it does take you back to that main page no matter what topic undocumented immigration it's set up the same exact way it gives you a few points are available there as well and has related articles on reset click here to get more sources for that same topic the critical questions so these are nice to create talking points search these questions you can kind of ask you a springboard or find more information on interesting to look at a timeline so this is kind of cool to give you a visual on how long the issue has been has been inexistent does give you a timeline for that specific topic resource that you really like you can save it to your Google Drive on there's even an option to silent and you can change the citation style as well but I think most of your problem using MLA so you can just copy this and then paste it right Sylvester's in a nutshell I really like it because it's well-organized there are a variety of topics and the topics are even if different opposite our kind of over you it's like abortion and corporal punishment those topics have been around since I was doing research and high school even though the resource give information on Topix is Prince so you're not going to be in an article from like 2000 is going to be more current articles on that specific topic if you need help please let me know I really enjoyed our research and I can help you you need to have a print resource library page in access card catalog you would obviously to do a search for whatever topic that you are researching and it's going to give you no print print books that could support sure misses a leaf has gone over some different strategies for research but make sure you're using synonyms virtual learning is not the only word or phrase that's used to describe that thing you know there's online learning education distance learning excetera and also go broad if you are trying to find information this one specific topic sometimes you get to specific you results aren't going to give you anything you need go look at broader to get more information on those topics all right please come see me in the library
